Hong Kong's universities are spread across different districts, so "close to school" isn't the only thing that matters. A more practical approach is: school location + commute method + budget + unit type + daily convenience.
The University of Hong Kong (HKU)
Worth comparing mainly: Sai Ying Pun, Kennedy Town and Shek Tong Tsui on western Hong Kong Island. If budget is limited, widen your search range and compare commute cost.
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)
Worth comparing mainly: Clear Water Bay, Hang Hau and Tseung Kwan O. What matters isn't map distance alone, but actual commute options to campus.
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)
Sha Tin, Fo Tan and Tai Wai are worth comparing as a main range. If budget is limited, compare listings that are slightly farther but well-connected by transport.
City University of Hong Kong (CityU)
Kowloon Tong and nearby areas are worth comparing, and you can widen your range based on MTR and other public transport options.
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU)
Hung Hom, Whampoa and Ho Man Tin are worth comparing, while also considering convenience to Kowloon and other parts of Hong Kong Island.
Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU)
Kowloon Tong, Lok Fu, Shek Kip Mei, Sham Shui Po and Prince Edward can be compared based on budget and commute.

This is meant as a search reference only — it doesn't represent officially designated housing areas for any school. Actual commute should be based on the specific listing address and real-time transport conditions.
